2024-2025 CHRISTIAN SEASONS CALENDAR
Call for Submissions of Artwork

University Hill Congregation in Vancouver, BC, Canada, is accepting submissions for the 2024-2025 edition of the Christian Seasons Calendar, which tells the story of the Christian year through scripture, liturgical colour, and artwork. This unique calendar features contemporary Christian visual artists and is distributed throughout North America and internationally.

The Christian Seasons Calendar features the six seasons of the Christian year and their liturgical colours: Advent (blue), Christmas (gold), Epiphany (green), Lent (purple) including Holy Week (red), Easter (gold), and the Season After Pentecost (green).

In addition to capturing the spirit of each Christian season, the 2024-2025 Calendar will reference Year C of the Revised Common Lectionary. Some of the scripture texts highlighted this year include Wisdom’s call (Proverbs 8), texts from Amos, Hosea, Jeremiah, Galatians, Colossians, Revelation, and stories from the Gospel of Luke, including Jesus reading from Isaiah (4:18-19), the good Samaritan (10:29-37), and the Prodigal Son (15:11-32).

We invite artists to submit up to five qualifying pieces of original artwork for consideration. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

To be considered, pieces must be suitable for landscape formatting. If your original artwork does not conform to this layout, please provide a cropped selection for our consideration. Please note that submitting artwork means you agree that the selection committee may use a cropped section of your piece if your artwork is chosen.

Once artwork is selected for the calendar, we will require high resolution images for printing (dimensions of at least 12.25" x 9.25" at a minimum of 300 dpi).  We accept tiff, jpg, pdf formats for file submission.

Entries will be juried and selected based on technical application, originality, and concept. Successful submissions are reflective of the Christian seasons and sensitive to the stories in this year’s lectionary.

Along with your artwork, please submit:

  • the Christian season each of your pieces best illustrates,

  • the biblical text that inspired or best applies to each piece, if applicable,

  • a 65-word maximum description of each image you submit.

Selected artists receive $300 USD per image used, plus five complimentary calendars.

Please submit your artwork below or by email to calendar@uhill.net with the Subject line: 2024-2025 Call for Submissions.
